Learning a magic trick has always seemed like a fun idea and has been on my bucket list since its inception.
However, what really triggered me to learn (besides always seeking new adventures with my girlfriend Polly) was my dear nephews (who are now 3 and 5 years old).
Earlier this year I had to go back to Norway for family matters. In Norway, I stayed with my brother and his kids, and it was so much fun being around them. And of course, as the silly uncle, I went far and beyond in entertaining them, even getting a full clown outfit and entertaining all the kids in the kindergarten. That also, by the way, helped me achieve some other life goals, such as learning how to juggle!
Anyways, it got me thinking that I really would want to learn some magic tricks and perform for them at some point.
And I think that magic is something especially amazing to perform and do for a child; to make them believe that anything is possible in life, and to spur their imagination.
Soooooo, Polly and I recently went for a magic workshop here in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Magic School. Of course… we also made it into a competition, where our great instructor Banana (yes, that’s his stage name!) had to decide which one of us was the best magician. The loser would receive a punishment from the Wheel of Pun-ishments. You can see all that below in the video if you want.
Suffice to say, we would really recommend this experience and to do it with Banana. He’s a great magician, and more importantly, a great teacher and human being. We really enjoyed it and hope to see him continue to succeed in his profession. And PS! as always, this experience was not sponsored in any way.
Now I know a few magic tricks and can’t wait to show them to my nephews when I am visiting Norway next time for Christmas!
